About the Artist

Christy Chaney Dyer

Christy Chaney Dyer is an artist living in the Ozarks of Arkansas. Having a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing allowed her to work in the art field for many years. She's worked as a graphic and production designer, an assistant creative director, a Director of Visual Arts at a thriving arts facility, and as an adjunct professor in art, thoroughly enjoying every art position she was blessed to have. The demands of family kept her away from the professional field of art and painting for more than 20 years before once again pursuing her passion of painting. Because of her always busy physician husband, Bill, an empty nest, and a completed visual arts studio, she's finally been able to get back to her love of painting.
Artist's Statement:
"My art focuses on what inspires me. Artists, art history, the visual world around me, and the presence of God and His created beauty are where I find inspiration. I am motivated by promptings and simple God whispers as creativity in me is brought to life. The awareness of serendipitous happenings both influence and affirm my direction in painting.
I consider myself a representational painter while being stylistically a contemporary impressionist. Subject matter changes based on my inspiration. My knowledge of artists, their work, or how they see inundate my thoughts and imagination often. Simply being in a place can trigger the visual similarities of a piece of art, which may lead me to further exploration of a painting that exists only in my head. This is how my brain works and I sometimes feel the need to take that image to canvas. These paintings are a result of that need and are much more than what you see on the surface. Some represent personal experiences, while others simply reflect what I see. I'm so grateful for this life and to be able to paint and create. And as God whispers, I hope to continue to listen."
